Logan Park Shakespeare Mini Fest

Shannon Colbert —

“Speak the speech, I pray you, as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue. But if you mouth it, as many of your players do, I had as lief the town crier spoke my lines. Nor do not saw the air too much with your hand thus, but use all gently…”

Shakespeare, an actor himself, seems to have had strong opinions about how it should be done. I am sure he would have been very pleased with the performances on offer at our own Logan Park Shakespeare Mini Fest.

On 25 June, friends and whanau were invited to watch a selection of Shakespeare scenes directed by our Year 13 Drama students for their Directing internal assessment and performed by our Year 11 Drama students, who have been working on NCEA standards looking at performance skills and preparation and the use of Elizabethan theatre form and style.

It was a lively and enjoyable evening of theatre with some wonderful examples of thoughtful and creative direction and delightful, effective and hilarious performances.

We would like to thank our lovely audience for their warm support and enthusiasm and congratulate all students involved for their hard work. Also, we’d like to particularly thank Qrowe Brittenden for MCing and Arts Prefect and stage manager extraordinaire, Holly Bettis, for heroically getting everyone and everything where they needed to be at the right time!

Thanks to everyone for a great night of theatre!
