Netball

Kate Denys —

We've had a great season with our many netball teams this year.

The Senior A Girls started this season with fitness session and weekly practice which over the season drastically improved team moral and their skill. They started in a difficult grade, which meant there were a few difficult games, before being moved to a grade with some good competition.

The girls attended the Otago Secondary School Netball Championships in a difficult pool losing all games, but having a fun day out. They also attended the Dunedin Co-Ed Schools’ Tournament, which was another opportunity showcase some great netball skills and the development of the team over the season.

Our amazing Logan Park Gold Netball Team has had an astoundingly successful season. Abby Spronken and I (Laura Hay) had the honour of coaching them this year! We are immensely proud of each and every one of our girls. They have shown incredible talent and positivity throughout the season.

LPHS Gold started off in a low grade for the Saturday competition games but after proving ourselves by winning each game, we moved up several grades and still continued to win. At the end of the season we were undefeated and topped it off by winning the final against Columba 36-10.

Logan Park Gold entered the Otago Secondary School Netball Champs and the Co-Education Dunedin School Tournament. We didn't win many games in these tournaments but it still helped our girls to grow as a team and to do better in our Saturday games.

We have been awarding player of the days each game but every time it is so hard to make a solid decision as everyone always puts their best foot forward. We wish all our girl luck for the future and hope they all continue their netball careers, improving and remaining positive and enthusiastic Netball players.

The 2017 netball season brought together a group of enthusiastic year 9 and 10 girls.

Through the great coaching efforts of Laura and Abby, by motivating us and keeping us fed with a good supply of lollies, we managed to grow from nine individuals into a mean keen netballing machine!!! Best of all we came first in our grade. The final was well played by all and our supporters were vocal to say the least. Bring on the 2018 netball season!!

We had 5 teams entered in the Netball competition this year, 3 Juniors and 2 Seniors who all played great netball and all put up a good fight in their games.

Our Senior A and Junior Gold team both played in the Otago Secondary Schools Netball Champs and the Dunedin Co-Ed schools Tournament. Both of these tournaments were an excellent chance for the girls to improve their skills and performance as a team.

The Logan Park Junior Gold team had a great season winning all their games at the start and being moved up several grades. They still managed to win all their games finishing top in their grade and undefeated.
