Boys Basketball

Jason Frost —

The senior A boys basketball team entered the 2015 season in the B grade competition. The previous year, the team had struggled in this grade, losing to most of the other teams.

The new year began well with the boys earning early wins over most other schools and establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the grade. Over the remainder of the season the team worked very hard at becoming a hard nosed defensive team, which helped them overcome bigger and stronger teams by working together and believing in one another.

The team was able to win their semi final and earn a spot in the Grand Final, where they went up against a very well drilled Kings High School team. Kings started the game very strong and shot out to an early lead, which they managed to hold until late in the second half. Led by captain Jaren Roy and Kan Nishida, the team rallied and erased the deficit, to take the lead and hold on to win a very tight game in front of a large crowd. Shooting guard David Spencer had an efficient game, shooting the ball well in the second half.

Awards were given to Jaren Roy as most valuable player. Most improved player went to Ocean Brydon, who became a vital part of the team's success.

Overall the boys had an outstanding year and should be very proud of their success. Many thanks for all the support from students, teachers and family.
