Junior Futsal

James Govan —

Whistles blowing, students sprinting, celebrating goals, hurting after defeat, are all part and parcel of a typical Tuesday night down at the Edgar centre for Junior Futsal.

Futsal South ran two competitions for the Year 9-10 students this year – one in term 1 and the second in term 4. Each term we had a fantastic entry of 6 teams, 2 female teams and 4 boys’ teams.

During the first term we had great results from the LPHS 3 and LPHS 4 teams, winning their respective competitions. Both of the girls’ teams sat comfortably around 5th position for the majority of the season, both finishing up there. The LPHS 1 team had a great start but ended up at 5th position, and the LPHS 2 team finished 4th.

Term 4 saw a similar mixture of results. The two girls' teams achieved 6th and 8th positions in their respective grades, the top year 9 boys team just missed out on the play off for 1st/2nd position and came 3rd. The second Year 9 team worked hard all season but finished in 8th. The top Year 10 team played an outstanding season, winning their competition and the second Year 10 team played some really tidy futsal and came 5th.

A special thanks to all the parents and senior students who helped out with the coaching, your efforts have been tremendous and not gone unnoticed. Last of all, well done to all the players, your turn outs to training have been consistent and your enthusiasm in games has made the season that much more enjoyable. Well done to all involved!
