Clayton House Report

Ben and Desirée —

For our annual House Day, Clayton made the stomach-turning journey to Aromoana where we were greeted with blue skies and scorching temperatures.

Here, we participated in events organised by the Year 13’s including the elusive cork hunt, rope walking and the fiercely competitive tug of war tournament (nobly won by group 1/1). We left House Day fuelled on pre-cooked sausages and determined to defeat Omimi in the upcoming Athletics Day.

Clayton’s bid to end its 4 year losing streak and reclaim the House Cup began well. Armed with electric-blue paint and ear-splitting chants, Clayton was determined to quell Omimi’s smug winning streak. Miraculously, Clayton out ran, threw and jumped its competition to win Athletics Day.

However, our success was short-lived and Clayton’s later participation was less promising. In Term 1, Clayton placed third in the Dodgeball Competition. In Term 2, we placed third and fourth in the Futsal Competition and Cross Country respectively. Our second place in Indoor Rowing in Term 3 was closely fought and promising for future years.

Clayton’s first and only house assembly was a roaring success never to be repeated. Thank you to Dr Thompson and his infinite wisdom, our fabulous group teachers and everyone who participated or competed.
