Cricket Report 2015

Undefeated in Saturday cricket in 2015.

It’s not often one can brag with such a bold statement but it is true for this year. Finally, as our core of senior players have aged and grown stronger Logan Park has begun to dominate the Open School’s grade in Saturday afternoon cricket, winning the grade in Term One 2015. As of late November the first X1 has not lost a Saturday game since November 2014.

The team has dominated its opposition with fast and accurate bowling. Impressing here were George Maclaurin, Rahul Singh, Sean Hall and Taine Clinch. In the batting stakes several scores over fifty were achieved and dominating here was David Spencer, Jaebyn Stevens and George Maclaurin again.

In Term four an extra Wednesday competition of soft ball 16 overs was introduced and our team nicknamed the ‘Cavaliers’ also remain unbeaten.

Due to a generous student council grant the team was able to purchase new gear, including monogrammed caps which made an impressive debut in the first up win against Kavanagh seconds.

In the recent Colts 20/20 three day tournament a makeshift team played really well and came fourth out of eight teams, narrowly missing out on third place in a final over defeat to John Maglasshan. Player of the tournament was Finn Lillies who bowled and batted superbly throughout, leading by example.

We have one more year of glory as the core of the team enter year 13 and seek to do some real damage in next year’s Gillette Cup and Mccullum Cup tournaments.

Thanks once again to our manager/coach Mr Fielding and all the regular parents who turn up religiously through all-weather to help organise and run the team.
