Midwinter Carnival

Arnika Hazelwood —

18 students enjoyed being "screen zombies" in the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival in June.

The artistic performance piece commented on a dystopian future where everyone is looking at their screens and controlled by their devices. The performance of the horde of "screen zombies" featured synchronised movements, not looking at people and taking selfies.

Thanks to all our students involved and to Ms Ashby for her artistic direction and leadership of the team. The carnival featured beautiful costumes, 14 giant lanterns, 400 lanterns made by families, 18 food stalls, 150 performers and over 1000 people in the procession. See the Otago Daily Times interview with Ms Ashby here.
