Early in April the Year 11 Environmental studies class set off to explore glaciers and hydro electric schemes up the Waitaki Valley and beyond to Mt Cook.

Mr Dixon dialed up the weather god and ordered fine clear skies for us, so we had excellent views of Aoraki as we explored the Glacial environment. A highlight of the trip was a boat ride on Lake Tasman to get up close to the face of the receding Glacier. The students catered their own meals in the well equipped kitchen at the Unwin Alpine lodge, entertainment in the evenings included a movie night at the Hermitage.
