Rugby At LPHS

Frankie Vella —

Our Rugby teams had a great time playing and learning this year.

Girls Rugby

Girls' rugby is a growth sport in secondary school sport and Logan Park is part of that growth.

Gemma Harris coached the girls' 7s team which played for four weeks in Term 2. The girls enjoyed the four weeks of 7s Rugby. In Term 3 the girls joined a Co-Ed team called United to play 10 aside rugby. This team was coached by Amanda Slade.

Over the two Terms girls developed their skills and did themselves proud. Simdi Adam was a real speedster scoring a number of tries over the season in both formats of the game.

Hannah Hogan was our best junior girl - strong in the tackle and a willing to take the ball up. Amanda Slade is looking forward to continuing to develop girls' rugby at Logan Park in 2021.

Boys Rugby

Logan Park boys play under the banner of the Co-Ed rugby agreement. Kaikorai Valley were the lead school for U14 boys' rugby. Oscar Lambeth was awarded the boys' rugby trophy. We want to continue to develop boys' rugby. Joel Whitcomb represented Logan Park in the 1st XV led by Taieri College. This is a great initiative as it allows Co-Ed schools to compete in age group rugby and provides the boys a rugby pathway while still attending a Co-Ed school.
