Girls Football

Co-Captains Tsugumi Parks Watanabe & Simdi Adam —

We want to start off by saying a big thank you to our incredibly amazing coach Mrs Kayla Robertson.

The team had another fantastic season finishing second in our division. Committed members and dedicated coaching from the wonderful Mrs Robertson throughout rain or shine, formed a resilient bunch who showed huge progress over the season. The team played eight games over the season winning 6, drawing 1 and losing 1. Even more rewarding was the team scoring 36 goals in total and only conceding 5. This meant we qualified for the final of our division where we narrowly lost 1-0. There is anticipation for an exciting future with plenty of emerging talent in all of our new players we welcomed this year.

We also competed in the Dunedin Co-ed Schools tournament in June. It was a great day out and we placed third overall. It was a valuable experience playing against schools not only in our division but those in the league above. It was empowering to beat one of these Div 1 teams.

Once again we had the privilege to attend the annual tournament. This year was no less of a struggle, the team battled hard with many injuries and sickness, running on a skeleton team with no subs towards the end. Our newer members were up for the challenge and proved to be very rewarding teammates, fighting to the end against predominantly div 1 teams from across NZ.

We are very sad to farewell our absolutely spectacular keeper and co-captain, Simdi Adam, who has continued to salvage the team with her incredible saves.

...New goalies welcome!
