The Alliance Française held its annual Oral Concours at the University of Otago on 16 August 2014 and we were very proud that Ava won First Prize in Year 11 French in a wide field of very able French speakers from Otago/Southland.

Ava is passionate about languages — she is competent in French, Italian, Chinese and English — and she takes every opportunity that she can to improve her languages. Ava is modest about her skills and actively inspires and encourages her friends and those around her to develop their languages — even insisting on speaking in French at home where her Mum would prefer that she spoke to her in Italian!
