Library Week by Michelle Summerfield

School Library Week 8-12 August 2022

Our LPHS Book Club members and superb Library Prefects generously contributed their time, ideas and creativity to plan an exciting School Library Week. This year’s theme was Travel, travel through reading, learn through reading.

The main attraction for many was our Scavenger Hunt. Created by Elizabeth Baker and Quinn Wilson, the challenge saw students and staff transported back to the 19th Century and travelling the continents of the world, in search of clues. Student engagement was excellent and much fun was had.

Popular lunchtime activities included ‘Book in a Jar’, ‘Book Spine Poetry’ and ‘Match-the-Teacher-With-the Book’. On Wednesday we welcomed creatively dressed book characters to watch a selection of short films. Prize for the Best Dressed went to Flynn, runners-up were Haika and Emily.

Bringing our School Library Week to a close was the much anticipated Literature Quiz on Friday. 9 teams took part and competition was fierce, with team Richard Psycho seizing the victory from team Mr Sutherland & Co., just two points behind.
