Strong Attendance Rates

We were pleased to receive our Term 1 2022 analysis of Attendance Data in August.

We have maintained strong attendance throughout the year. Daily school attendance is a nationwide focus and the Otago Daily Times reported on Saturday 20 August, that only 49% of southern pupils are going to school regularly according to Ministry of Education data.

We were pleased to see that we have maintained relatively high daily student attendance and engagement with whanau despite the challenging times. Nationally attendance is at 46% and Otago is third out of 10 regions.

Our rate compared to other similar schools as well as all schools nationally is significantly higher and closer to 80% attendance across the first 3 terms.

Regular school attendance is an important predictor of student success and achievement. If students are unwell it is important to stay away from school and to rest and recover from illnesses. If we can be at school it helps with learning, wellbeing and feeling part of the wider school community.
