Year 13 HospitalitySandwich making by Andy Parsons

Hospitality

Year 13 Hospitality have been busy trialling, making and selling sandwiches for sale at the Canteen, as part of a Level 3 Hospitality unit.

The focus is on commercial production of food to a paying customer. We have been very fortunate to have had the full support of the Canteen Manager, Carolyn Hutchison. Sandwiches have been popular and have sold out each week.

The Hospitality Department was invited by the Otago Daily Times to provide the catering for the recent Class Act function held at the Art Gallery on August 27th. 180 invited guests enjoyed attractive platters of savoury and sweet finger-food prepared at school and served by senior Hospitality students in their smart assessment uniforms.

Year 11 students have been trialling and evaluating a range of soups to donate to the Presbyterian Support Foodbank in the last week of term.

Year 10 students have been researching and trialling various original food products to sell at the Otago Farmers Market on October 24th.

Year 12 students, under the guidance of our new part-time Hospitality teacher Ms Cat Hunter, have been trialling and will produce a variety of ice creams and mini-cheesecakes for sale at the Youth Week Student Market on Friday 25th September.
