Pine Hill School Visit by Andrew Spitlle

Head Prefects Inspire at Pine Hill School

Our Head Prefects Bella Rennie and Lucan Willis were invited to speak at Pine Hill School's Duffy Assembly about the importance of reading.

Bella spoke about how much reading meant to her when she herself was a primary school student. Lucan entertained the assembly with insights into the world of Harry Potter, also reading some excerpts. Our Head Prefects then took the opportunity to encourage the younger students in their own writing and creativity, as well as pointing out a wide range of benefits that literacy offers, far beyond the confines of the English classroom.

Question time followed, and there were some sophisticated and insightful questions from the audience, as well as some teachable moments about the difference between a statement and a question. The Pine Hill students seemed slightly reluctant to let their new literary friends depart to continue their own education. Sadly, after a group photograph on the stage, it was time to leave the lofty heights of the Hill and return to the big school in the valley.
