The Boys 1st 11 football competed at the Linwood Cup Tournament at Logan Park during tournament week.

Expectations were soaring after a strong local season finishing 4th in Dunedin taking points off OBHS, Kings and John McGlashan 1st teams.

The 2023 team boasts a mix of attacking flair and no-nonsense defence.

We managed to win the pool of death over Southland Boys, Cromwell College, Hillmorton and Kings 2nd 11. That set us up for a semi final against old rivals Trident from Whakatane. They beat us 2 - 1 on the day but that’s soccer.

We licked our wounds and put on a stellar performance in the 3rd and 4th playoff to beat Mt Aspiring 2 - 0 and finish 3rd overall.

Stand out performers were top scorer and MVP Matt Fraser (6 goals), Captain Walid Ouhassine (2 goals, 1 for us), Jamie Fraser (only 1 yellow card), Torsten Wilkinson (5 goals) and goalkeeper Quinn Byers (only 3 goals conceded).
