Year 9 Reading Challenge 2023
Students set themselves a realistic reading goal and challenged themselves to achieve or surpass this goal. The focus of the challenge was to develop a reading habit, to read for pleasure and to read widely.
Student engagement in the challenge was strong and feedback very positive. A student commented “I realised that I could still read peacefully.”
Another said “I enjoyed branching out and exploring different genres.”
In conjunction with the Reading Challenge, we ran an Extreme Reading Challenge. Students submitted unedited photos of themselves reading in surprising places.
Two students in particular stood out and shared 1st place: Anika Biggin 9B and Wilhelm Mutch 9U.
The overall winner of the Reading Challenge was Rui-Sheng Chung 9X. Congratulations Rui!
