Emily Hutton won the school prize at the Otago Art Teachers Celebrate Show for 2019.
Emily was praised by one of the judges and acting head of the Otago Art school, Ms Bridie Lonie, for her attention to detail and crafting of line.
Emily’s portrait suggest an internal reflection that is counter to the external figure, while the small scale of the work invites the viewer ‘into the work’, creating an intimacy between the subject and audience.
