Top Musician and Teacher recovers

We have welcomed Nick Cornish back after he broke his neck in a mountain biking accident.

Nick is one of Dunedin's top musicians and one of our itinerant music teachers.  He is also an experienced mountain biker and he has raced alongside elite athletes in regional competitions.  In November last year he fell from his bike while riding in the Wakari area and hit a bank head-first.   Nick spent two months in the Burwood spinal unit in Christchurch, receiving operations to stabilise his neck.  Nick has now recovered and is able to play the saxophone, flute and clarinet again.  Playing the Oboe is still off the cards currently, but Nick is optimistic he will continue to regain full movement in his fingers.  He is revelling in his return to teaching.  "It's great to be back teaching."  We held a surprise morning tea to welcome him back in May.
