Karaoke Week by Arnika Hazelwood

Karaoke Week

Karaoke Week was the bomb! It was held in the last week of Term 2. We had lots of fantastic acts and entertainment.

The finals saw some of our best singers and entertainers.

Year 9 student, Jennifer Par's intepretation of Celine Dion's "I"m Alive," was truly impressive.

Jesse Bawi tried his Spanish sight-reading of "Living Lavida Loca" and impressed us all with his approximation of Spanish.

Jivy Macbeth was definitely Most Entertaining with a shameless version of Abba's "Mama Mia" complimented by her stripy outfit.

Jacobi Kohu-Morris serenaded Mr Dodd for his 60th birthday with a beautiful rendition of "It's Now or Never."

Siblings Reva and Josh Grills were extraordinary with the "Ordinary People," by John Legend.

Jimmy Robinson's dedication to Josh Croucher of "Close to You," was heart-wrenching.

The heats also saw highly entertaining acts including 2 House Groups (who happened to be from the Best House — Omimi).  The Technology Department proved they could have a future as back up dancers to Mrs Brown with their "Happy" song by Farrell Williams.

Our very own Year 11 boy band, The Village People were the best dressed across the week, singing "In the Navy."

Tip was uniformly AWESOME over the week.

Our MCs rocked: Malakai, Charlie and Ben. And a big thanks to our lighting guys Oscar, Charlie, Alexander and Mathew.

Thanks to our awesome Interact Club for organising it and the Student Council who funded the $250 prize pool.

Results:

Winner: Jennifer Par. Second equal: Reva and Josh Grills and Jacobi Kohu-Morris. Third: Jimmy Robinson. Most Courageous: Jesse Bawi. Most Entertaining: Jivy Macbeth. Best House Groups 2/2 and 2/4.
