Senior Boys Football Champions

The season came to end with play off for the Division 1 title. The team, ably captained by Henri Gaudin did not lose a game all season.

This carried through to the final game against John McGlashan College. After going down 1-0 after the first 30 seconds, it looked a little grim. This seems to be our team's unique playing style which allows the opposition to score early therefore allowing the opposition to play with a false sense of security. However, the team soon kicks it up another gear, normally after some “inspirational words” at half time to take control of the game, an entertaining, if somewhat stressful strategy for the coach and spectators. Our first game saw one of our main strikers, David Prime end up in hospital and 6 weeks off with a broken collar bone but he starred in the final game and would have scored if not for some very dubious refereeing, sorry David, my bad.

The final game against JMC ended 3-2 and our first football trophy for a few years. I was particularly impressed with the Year 11 players staking their place in their first senior year and without Solomon, Ben, John and Tarren, we would not have been so successful.  Well done. In fact, Solomon, narrowly missed winning the Golden Boot by just one goal to the captain Henri.

Another impressive debut was Ben Dubyk, who without doubt kept us in the game by displaying some exceptional goalkeeping. However, he is a Chelsea fan and they know how to park the bus in front of the goal. I also thought the team have grown greatly from our normal approach of hey diddle diddle, right down the middle to using our wingers, Danny and Mica to drive the ball into the goal area.
