Shakespeare by Arnika Hazelwood

Stunning Shakespeare

Drama enthusiasts excelled in the Shakespeare Festival in April.

Congratulations to all our Shakespearean actors who performed in the Dunedin festival.  Both our 5 minute and 15 minute pieces were selected for the final showcase where the 6 best pieces out of 18 entries were performed for a large audience.

Zion Berwick and Jeannie Corona presented a clever, sophisticated and subtle extract from Measure for Measure in the 5 minute category.

And 30 students were involved in a stunning performance of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Diane Dupres with many individual standout performances.  The piece won the Denise Walsh Trophy for Best Ensemble as well as Best Musical Contribution for Neive Strang and Cuba Rust for their wonderful original composition of "It's my lady, it's my love."  Quinn Hardie was named runner-up for the Direct Entry category recognising acting talent and Tyler Proctor was a gracious and confident  MC for the evening.

Our students appreciated seeing the Romeo and Juliet performance in a school assembly before the festival.
