Super Teacher and Super Mentors

Danielle Rieter, one of our Masters of Teaching trainee teachers in 2014, was awarded an Excellence for Teaching Practice Award from the University of Otago, College of Education in 2015.

Nominations were sought from partner schools, mentor teachers and College of Education staff to recognise those student teachers who demonstrated teacher practice of exceptional quality. Danielle was the only secondary education student teacher in the Master of Teaching and Learning programme to receive the award. While Danielle was at Logan Park, she taught Drama, Classics and Social Studies. She impressed with her enthusiasm, energy and organisational skills, whether it was teaching in a classroom or organising the Junior Greek Festival or Junior Shakespeare Festival, coaching girls' football, or directing Sheila Winn Shakespearean pieces.

Danielle was mentored by Sarah Spicer, Head of Drama, and Paul Enright, Head of Humanities during her teacher training at Logan Park. She thinks she had the "best mentors" possible, and also loved her time working with students at Logan Park. She wants to "ignite in students the desire to do their best." Danielle has a job teaching in Napier currently.
