International Students’ Orientation Day

Dunedin turned on a stunning day on February 1st to welcome our new international students for 2016.

After a morning of introductions with buddies, a “getting to know the school” quiz and talks about what music and sports were available in the school, we finished the in-school section with pizza for lunch. Thanks to the buddies for being so welcoming and helpful.

In the afternoon, Mark from Awesome Tours took us around Dunedin and gave us the benefit of his extensive knowledge about the area. We took in the amazing views from Signal Hill, visited Baldwin street, where many of the students successfully made it to the top in spite of the heat, and did a quick trip through the university and city centre. We finished with a trip to St Kilda beach where we shocked the local dairy owner with a huge order for icecreams! The feedback was that all the students had a great time seeing our beautiful city.  Students were buddied up with Kiwi students and enjoyed an orientation day which featured a bus trip to the beaches and scenic spots as well as the world famous steepest street, Baldwin Street.

Our international community includes students from around 35 different countries with new students arriving from Germany, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong and Iceland this time.
