Top Pasifika Award

Head Girl, Emma Samuels, collected a Pasifika Education Level 2 NCEA Award at a Dunedin Ministry of Education Award ceremony and church service on Friday April 7th at OBHS.

Emma was recognised for her Level 1 (Excellence) and Level 2 (Merit) NCEA qualifications as our top LPHS Pasifika NCEA student.

Emma was supported by her whanau Barbara Samuels (mother) and Elizabeth Carr (Aunt), as well as Jane Johnson (Principal) and Tipene Winiata (Kaiako).

Twelve Dunedin secondary schools were represented at the award service by sixteen Pasifika high achievers. The Reverend Faife’au, Latuivai Kioa Latu led the service and asked award winners to be aware of their responsibilities as young role models for other students in their communities.

Otago/Southland Ministry of Education Director, Julie Anderson, then congratulated the students warmly for their impressive NCEA achievements and wished them well for their future studies.
