Fashion Design Scholarship

Congratulations to Lorna Ryan who has won an Otago Polytechnic Scholarship. Lorna was awarded her scholarship in August at the Polytechnic's School of Design Secondary Schools' Awards Exhibition for Year 12 and 13 students.

Lorna is a talented designer and Otago Polytechnic's Academic Leader of Fashion, Dr Margo Barton described Lorna's winning design as "quirky, wearable and really out there at the same time." Lorna plans to study Fashion and Design at Otago Polytechnic next year and her scholarship will go towards her tertiary fees. Her Logan Park Fabric Technology teacher, Teresa MacKay is proud and excited about Lorna's abilities and future in the Fashion area.

Competing against other Dunedin High Schools, in Technology Design Subjects such as Design and Visual Communication, Digital Technology and Fabric Technology, Lorna Ryan has achieved excellent results for her 3 piece garment.

Lorna not only constructed these garments, but also made the patterns from basic blocks; an extraordinary result for a Year 13 student who has exceptional talent in design and patternmaking.
