Robbie Rocks Audience Favourites Queen Abe of the Scots by John Dodd

Robbie Rocks competition winners

Congratulations to our musicians for their winning performances in the Robbie Rocks Dunedin competition.

The competition was held in January and a number of Logan Park musicians performed. We won the Youth Section for the second year in a row with the group "Ryan Ruans Everyth!ng" (Henry Ruan and Nicole Samuels) singing "Ae Fond Kiss."

The Audience Favourite Award went to "Queen Abe of the Scots" (Alice Houston-Page, Abe Baillie, Caitlin Bathgate, Hamish O'Malley-King) singing "Coming Through the Rye." And "White Buckets on the Roof" (Finn McKinlay, Lucas Dubyk, Albert Baeumer, Colin Macandrew, Arnie Tregonning) also impressed singing "Auld Lang Syne."   Our talents weren't only reserved for the Youth Section with Jack Gilmore playing drums in the open section with the "Muckle Maun Laddies."

The competition celebrates the work of Robbie Burns, Scottish poet and songwriter, and embraces Dunedin's Scottish heritage.  The students select a Robbie Burns song or poem and reinterpret it for a modern audience.  Thanks to John Dodd and the Music Department for their inspirations.
