New teacher by Cathi Graham

Welcome to new staff

It has been wonderful to see our Logan Park family expanding with the addition of Amber Fraser-Smith and James Govan.

Welcome to our new International Director, Amber Fraser-Smith. Amber is taking over from Cathi Graham, who is retiring, and Christine Swindells who has moved to Timaru.

Amber has a background in journalism and teaching English to international students. She has lived in the UK and also spent time in Cambodia and Spain.Travelling is a great love, having visited 59 countries so far.

Amber has a really interesting party trick: If you tell her your birth date, she can work out what day of the week you were born! This stems from her interest in how memory works, which in turn comes from studying Psychology. Amber's other claim to fame is that she is one of the thousand Dunedin children chosen to be studied throughout their lives as part of the Dunedin Health and Development longitudinal study. Oh and she speaks Spanish!

We are also thrilled to welcome James Govan who will be teaching in both the Physical Education and Mathematics departments. He enjoys football and will be coaching some teams this year. He's an accomplished sportsman himself and is keen on soccer, athletics and basketball.  He's represented Otago in all 3 codes. He was born in Scotland and grew up in Dunedin and he loves magic tricks, juggling and table-tennis. He chose Logan Park because of its reputation, passionate staff and great kids. He is excited about this year at LPHS and is loving getting to know the school and kids.
