On Monday, 30 Rakinui students attended the Stained Glass Window Art Programme at the Art Centre.

Arts Centre Education manager Katy French teamed up with local artist Rebecca Jellie to deliver an exciting new art programme, studying the beautiful stained-glass windows around Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre.

Students:

• Learned the symmetry and designs of stained-glass windows in Neo-Gothic architecture in the context of The Arts Centre.

• Created an artwork inspired by the stained-glass windows of The Arts Centre.

• Learned how to create a balanced composition.

• Investigated and developed visual ideas in response to a variety of motivations, observations, and imagination.

• Explored and described ways in which meanings can be communicated and interpreted in their own and others’ work.

• Explored a variety of materials, tools, elements, and selected principles.
