Aupaki Techfest 2018
Last Tuesday and Wednesday saw eighteen students, three helpers and a couple of teachers at Sumner School participating in innovative and creative technology workshops.
Some of the workshops were 3D printing, Sphiro, makey-makey, minecraft madness, Kings of Fling, making music using GarageBand, Atmosphir and several coding opportunities. It was fantastic to see the level of engagement and motivation shown by our students and also the opportunity to work alongside other students within our Kahui ako.
For Techfest I did the "Music To My Ears" workshop where we learnt how to use GarageBand and create theme songs. It was surprisingly harder than it seemed because there were so many buttons and settings. Sid
For Techfest I did "Kings of Fling". We made a trebuchet (a medieval artillery). We made two trebuchets. We spent most of the time making the base once we finished we fired tennis balls, water balloons and lollies. Rowan
I did the “Music To My Ears” programme where we had to recreate some theme songs. I remixed the Harry Potter theme song in GarageBand. We also got to have a play around with the app and create our own music. Marlo
Thank you to Pasco, Caleb and Kahu for your support and leadership with Makey Makey and 3D printing workshops.
