Takaroa trip to the Gardens
Harakeke and Kowhai had a fun day out to the Botanical Gardens last Friday as part of our 'Minibeasts' inquiry. We are learning about how insects help our environment.
It was really fun because we went into the hothouse and we saw lots of interesting leaves. I liked the blindfold game - you needed to put a blindfold on and your buddy needed to hold your shoulders and you walked around the plants and describe them and then you take the blindfold off and you try to find the plant.

At the Gardens we did this cool bug hunt and we had to find bugs and Mathias found a green beetle. I was so amazed that I couldn’t believe my eyes! I liked playing on the playground. It was super fun.

It was really adventurous when we did the programme. It was ‘Park Explorers’ and we learnt bird sounds and names. It was really fun when we found the metallic beetle. When we were at the playground we saw some baby ducklings.

We sort of had a picnic. We learnt about birds and bugs and trees. We learnt what the birds sounded like. We played this game that we had to put a blindfold and we had to feel a tree and we had to explain it, then they had to guess which tree it was. We saw ducks and the baby ducks trotted on Archer’s donut!
