Brendan Wright —

Kia ora e te whānau

Ka mau te wehi to our kapa haka group who performed at the Aupaki Cultural Festival held at Sumner Primary School last night.  It is awesome seeing such an age range in our school kapa haka with everyone doing their bit to make Lyttelton Primary proud. Good job! Thank you to Timi Pirikahu, our kapa haka tutor, who has worked so hard with this group.  I know the children are looking forward to performing at the Horncastle Arena on Friday 13 September.

A very warm welcome to Suzy Boddy who has now joined our admin team as our executive officer.  We also warmly welcome Robyn Thomas onto our support staff team working in Harakeke.  Great to have you with us.

Today we had the Jazz Band from Mountain View College perform for us in our hall / Laf. This was a great opportunity for children to experience a school band performance featuring trumpets, trombones, keyboards, drums, saxophones, bass and more. Thank you Mountain View College for performing for us today.

As mentioned  in the Board of Trustees Update by John Garrett and in  my blurb last Friday your children have brought home an envelope today with four questions for parents and whānau to please consider over the weekend.    The Board of Trustees is seeking to further understand what is important for you in the education of your child/ren so they can review the school's strategic goals and direction. Thank you in advance for taking the time to provide your comments to the board.  Please have your children drop these off to Kate at the front desk on Monday or just as soon as you are able to.

Our school production preparation for Rakinui students is now underway with a collaboration between school and LAF to put on an adaptation of Animal Farm.  Stay tuned as we progress towards production week on 25 and 26 of September.

You may be aware the Ministry of Education undertook to complete a full review of lock down emergency procedures following the events of March 15. Despite procedures at Lyttelton Primary running smoothly the wider review by the KPMG is now available.  Please see  this moe summary here.

Have a relaxing weekend everyone.

Ngā mihi
