Learning Enrichment

Diana Feary —

This week we saw knitting, cooking coding, science experiments, Lego challenges, craft work, painting, photography, physical education, The Port Hills News and 3D printing to name a few.

Learning Enrichment is used to broaden the experiences available for all our children. Activities are designed to expose children to areas of the curriculum in which:

  • they may develop a new, varied and genuine interest,
  • provide the opportunity to be inspired and enriched throughout their time at school
  • engage with our community and is focused on place-based

Learning Enrichment is providing educationally enriching activities in a safe and nurturing environment which promotes relationships and partnerships between:

  • community organisations and our school to promote learning and community engagement and participation
  • families and our school by sharing authentic learning, participation and contribution based around our children
  • our children. staff, families and community as we work to develop effective programmes to provide quality learning experiences

Increasing such educational opportunities for children requires us to rethink the traditional school day with innovative approaches to enable us to maximise opportunities, including daily timetables and use of staff.
