Creativity and Crazy Characters
I think everyone enjoyed having Book Week back. Many thanks to Brett and Tracey who thrilled the children as mystery readers and a big thank you to Rita for the quizzes and crafts that she organised for lunchtimes in the library.
Book Week saw many exciting things at LPS. Mystery readers, library activities at lunchtime, the teddy bears' picnic and my personal favourite, the dress up parade. On Friday students came to school as fairy tale princesses, Winnie the Pooh, Down The Back Of The Chair, Gangsta Granny and even BB-8. We paraded around Lyttelton, with shop owners, passers-by and even the little kindy kids dressed up as their favourite characters, all coming out to look and turn their heads at us. So I suppose Book Week was a great success and I hope it goes just as well next year. By Sunny, Raupo
Book Week, I was rushing down the street to see what kids had dressed up as. I saw a BB-8 from Star Wars! There was a cowboy, a boxtroll, a knight from Astrix, even a mouse! I rushed up to my classroom as fast as the flash and when I went through the door most of my friends were there in the classroom. We sat in our circle time talking about our costumes, I was Mike from Joe Bar. Most people didn't know who I was that day. After the circle time the teachers gave us an opportunity to have pictures taken, most of the classroom put up their hand. A few minutes later were in a group with younger kids, I was with Ridley, the year 4, he was Captain Underpants. The whole school paraded down London St, I felt quite embarrassed. Ridley was really embarrassed but I went with him as his buddy. We walked up to kindergarten, all the kindy kids came out to see us, I saw my old teacher and that made my happy. By Gabriel, Raupo.
