School Donations
The Board of Trustees receives Operational Funding from the Government to implement the goals of the school's strategic plan, and for the running of the school. In addition to this the Board accepts donations from families.
Kia ora e te whānau,
Wow, what a start to the year! From swimming sports and Quail Island adventures to a thriving kapa haka group, our tamariki have been busy. And there’s more to come! This year, we’re excited to offer drama, the EnviroSchools programme, language learning, and extra maths and literacy resources—all thanks to school donations and fundraising.
Your Donation = More Opportunities for Our Kids
Every dollar you contribute makes a real difference at Lyttelton Primary. Last year, you told us that enriching learning and strong classroom support are top priorities. Your donations help fund teacher aides, library books, and classroom equipment, ensuring every child gets the support they need.
Government Funding Doesn’t Cover It All
The Ministry of Education’s funding only stretches so far. Due to our school’s funding classification, we receive less government support than many other schools. This means we rely on donations to bridge the gap and provide the rich learning experiences our tamariki deserve. This is where we need your help!
More Families Are Donating – Let’s Keep It Going!
We’re incredibly grateful to the 56% of families who contributed to school donations last year, and it’s heartening to see that number grow! But we know we can do even better. Our goal is 100% participation, and with the support of all our whānau, we can provide even more opportunities for our children. Surrounding schools typically see 75% participation, and we’re confident that, with your help, we can make Lyttelton Primary the very best it can be.
What It Costs (And Why It’s Worth It!)
This year, the school donation is set at:
$160 per student (that’s around 84 cents per school day!)
$100 for each additional sibling
This amount is actually lower than many surrounding schools (some request up to $200 per student), and every cent goes directly toward enriching the learning environment for our tamariki.
