Aupaki Student Council 'Hack'
On October the 23rd (Tuesday) four students from Totara attended a special Aupaki student council meeting at Core Education.
Usually Lisa-Quan and Caleb attend these meetings but this week, two newbies joined them to see what they do at these meetings. Apera and Tessa were the ones to join them, hence they will be attending the meetings next year.
On Tuesdays session the four were discussing and sharing their opinions on Learning and what it means to them, with other schools within the Aupaki band. Firstly they were set into groups each group having one person from each school. Then were asked to sort an array of photos into three categories; Learning, Might be learning or Not learning. Each group had a very different opinion on these things. Throughout the session they were tasked with different exercises, such as ordering different school subjects into what they thought was important or less important. To listing what they wanted to learn more of, less of and what they wanted for the future.
Both newbies Apera and Tessa were pleased with what happened at these events and surely look forward to next year! As for Lisa-Quan and Caleb they all knew what they were doing so they were great mentors! The session ended with some shared morning tea and chat.
