Totara Camp at Spencer Park

Rachel Cummins —

Our senior students had a fantastic few days at Spencer Park this week taking part in team building, orienteering, beach olympics and climbing. Here are some thoughts from some students.

We went to Adrenalin Forest the second day.  We arrived at the forest and met Isaac who was one of the instructors.  He gave us harnesses and told us how to use them.  After that we went off.  Alain, Albie and I did the Level 1 first and then went off to do Level 2 but the second obstacle was terrifying.  It was a small bridge 10 meters in the air!!  Gijs

On the ropes up high, I spy the blue sky

Blue sky above, I have a view of a dove,

Dove sitting on a tree, I'm on a zipline - Wheeeee!

Zipline swinging next to the pad, what next?  Number 6

Must be mad!          Nydia

Scratchy bark, sore hands

Treetop heights, a different land

Wooden platforms high and low, the highest point

I want to go.

Hold your breath, take a leap of faith, but don't worry,

You have a harness to keep you safe.

The breath of piney air

Hitch up to the zipline if thou dare.........

It's so much fun, you don't want to stop

But oh no. the timer goes off, down from the tree you climb,

But make sure you come back another time.   Maia

What I was most proud about was Adrenalin Forest and that Sinclair and I got up to Level 5b.  It was scary but we did it.  The jumping pillow we played on all day was really fun.  This was the best camp so far and the food was so yum.  On the first night we had Mac n cheese and the second was nachos.  Those were so good.  James M
