Art Gallery visit

Arabella Karst and Maia Henderson —

Rakinui enjoyed a day out to the Art Gallery and the city, including time at the Margaret Mahy playground.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Rakinui went to the Christchurch Art Gallery. We were split into two groups. The first one went to the Art Gallery while the other walked to the Margaret Mahy playground. The group at the art gallery split up into two groups. One to go upstairs and the other to look at the art downstairs. Both were about textures and mixing the colours. Then,  after we had a look at some examples we went into the teaching room and recoloured some quite famous paintings. The lesson was about oil pastels and how to properly use them. We learnt that when using the colours, always put warm colours on the paper before you mix dark colours with them. After the action packed trip to the gallery we all got on the bus and left for school.
