Cabaret '23 - A Celebration of the Arts

Nikeisha Clarke, Milly —

Rakinui production 2023

Over the past 5 weeks, our fantastic tamariki have been working hard to pull together a range of acts celebrating different aspects of the Arts including drama, music, dance, singing, poi and mask work. Through challenges with absences and fluid schedules, our expert kaiako persevered to create the high quality performances that were presented by years 5-8 during our 4 shows this week. We would like to give special thanks to Mike in particular for working collaboratively to showcase the mahi our students have achieved under his tutelage over the past 4 years. We are all very proud of the way each student stepped up to take on new challenges and roles, and utilised this opportunity to showcase their creative talents!

"Over the last few weeks Rakinui have been rehearsing for our 2023 production ‘Cabaret’. We only do these every two years where we showcase singing, dancing, drama and the school band. Production has been a great opportunity for all of us and we have learned so much from everyone. We especially enjoyed developing new skills from our teachers Mike, Fleur and Carmel. We have had lots of challenges this year due to sickness, timing and changes to our acts but everyone persevered and was ready to shine for the 4 shows!" - Milly
