Rakinui have been focussing on poetry and poetry writing

Janet Powell —

Bugs has been the theme for Raupo and we have been looking at different ways to write a poem from Haiku to Tongue Twisters. Totara have been working on some very sophisticated forms of poetry which they shared in assembly today.

THE APPLE EATER

Andy had an apple with an apple eater in it.

Andy tried to eat the apple but the apple eater ate it.

That made Andy angry so Andy tried to eat the apple eater, but the

apple eater ate Andy before Andy could eat it.

Cricket Tongue Twister

A cricket was in a wicket while it tried to pick it’s way out of the ticket.

But the cricket could not pick it’s way out of the ticket. So the cricket in the wicket was stuck in the ticket.

Another cricket came along to help for the cricket in the wicket was feeling sick. The cricket nicked the ticket and the cricket in the wicket was no longer the cricket in the wicket stuck in the ticket.
