Takaroa Visits the exhibition Te Wheke.

Lyttelton Primary School —

We were so lucky to get to visit the wonderful Christchurch City Art Gallery.

The Art Gallery.

I was on the bus. It looked like my dad's favorite pattern. It felt on my feet like my Mum’s carpet. I thumped down on the seat Thump! I walked to the art gallery. I went to the learning space. I heard people talking. I had the taste of gummies from a sneaky snack in my mouth. I walked around. After that, we made a star. My sister made a spider web with a cute spider. I did the green summer grass. It was good having my Mum with me.  By Dexter

At the Art Gallery, we looked at the exhibition Wheke!! Then we made a star and mine was really awesome. We looked at some star art with feathers and sticks and tape. When we went on the bus it was very loud, it was mostly Harakeke.  By George

Art Gallery:    I liked the whales and Mount Cook pictures. They were painted in black, orange and blue. It is the start of the exhibition.  We made stars in the classroom. I put pipe cleaners, feathers, beads, and twisties on my star.  Soon we will hang the stars in the school.  I liked the trip.  By Davy

The Art Gallery: Yesterday I went to the art Gallery. I went at 9:30 in the morning.

We went to this making room with loads of kid stuff. There were two teachers, one was called Jenny and the other one was called Bianca. We split up into two groups, I was with my sister Carmela.

Jenny took our group to this room and there was this huge Tapa Cloth in that room. We talked about it for a while then we moved to a different corner in the room. There was a quilt with flowers on it the quilt was made by loads of bits of cloth and the lady that made it sewed little flowers on it. When we were done talking about the lady that made that quilt we moved again to another corner in the big room. There was a huge map of the world shaped like a heart made by Chocolate wrappers!

After we had looked at a few more pieces of art we went to the kid's room and Jenny explained that we were making stars out of feathers and stuff like that. I started to make mine, my sister sat next to me at a table. My Grannie and this little boy called Louise sat on the other side of the table. I got some materials for the star and put them on the star. I kept on gathering stuff to put on my star. I only one more bit of the star to put stuff on. I got some feathers and string and stuff like that. I put it on my star and I was done!

After that, we had to go back on the bus but I think that somebody is going to hang the stars up in the Library. By Leonor
