Health & Safety Walk-through
Teaching of Positive Behaviour for Learning School-wide expectations through Tuakana-Teina.
To begin the new school year, Totara students demonstrated Tuakana-teina* through leading a healthy and safety walk-through for the younger students in Harakeke, Kowhai and Raupo. They shared key messages on our school-wide expectations and how to keep safe in the school environment. They presented skits, short movies, posters, comics, speeches and provided demonstrations in a variety of areas around our school such as the grassy, skate park, sandpit, sports shed, library, friendship seat etc. Thanks goes to Totara for their leadership and positive messages in support of our school values.
* Tuakana/teina refers to the relationship between an older (tuakana) person and a younger (teina) person and is specific to teaching and learning in the Māori context)
