EPro8 Engineering Challenge

Monica Jack —

Tōtara Year 7 and 8 students recently took part in the annual EPro8 Challenge.

EPro8 is our inter-school science and engineering competition. Every year over 25,000 students from throughout New Zealand take part. Students participate in a series of events: firstly within our school and then, if selected, going on to represent Lyttelton Primary School in the inter-school competition. These events are designed to promote science, engineering and problem solving. Students choose from a selection of design and construction challenges and race to complete their project successfully within a set time frame. Our challenges in the school round included creating a puppet theatre with working curtains and a throne with a reclining function, or a working super-sized model of the classic Buzzy Bee toy. Congratulations to the eight students from our top three teams who will represent us in the inter-school final next term.
