We were very fortunate to have Joanna Grochowicz, author of "Into the White - Scott's Antarctic Odyssey" come and speak to the Y3-6 children about her book. She is a finalist in this year's Children's Book Awards.

She captivated the children with tales of the trials and tribulations of such an expedition, dressing the children as some of the key members of the team to help illustrate their characters and bring this true story to life. The children in return, genuinely impressed her with their knowledge of Antarctica and the connections to Lyttelton. 

For Book Week last year, Mila was so taken with this book that she dressed up as Scott for the character day. Thanks to Ruth sending a photo to Joanna that we were so fortunate to have a special visit.
