Well-known author Jon Tucker came to inspire senior children in Rakinui this week.

Jon Tucker is an author who came to talk to Rakinui on Wednesday in the library. He talked to us about his life and raising his five children on one boat and how reading and writing was a huge part of his families life. His books range from diaries about his travels to and from Antarctica all the way to a children's book series based on the tales of his own children. He encouraged us to do some writing with him based on his own books, allowing us to put our own spin on his story. I personally enjoyed hearing him read chunks of his own books while simultaneously reliving and remembering what he had done. I strongly recommend the "Shipwreck Kid" series to anyone who enjoys reading about adventures.
