Medication at school
At times children may need to have or take medication at school - below is the process for this to be possible.
It may be necessary to administer prescribed medication to children when the parent/caregiver is unable to do so. If this is the case it is important the medication is administered in accordance with instructions provided by the parent/caregiver on the Permission to Administer Medication Form below.
In cases where a child has a chronic health condition that requires constant monitoring, eg diabetes, or where an allergy could lead to anaphylaxes, the staff will follow an action plan developed in collaboration with health professionals, parent/caregiver and the school (displayed in appropriate areas) and medication will be administered as required. Medication will be kept in an area specified for the individual child - this could be their learning area, the office, so that all staff know where to find it.
