Student Learning on HERO

Lyttelton Primary School —

Lyttelton Primary School utilises an online reporting tool called HERO. Our aim has been to implement a system that allows the teachers, parents and students to view a child’s learning journey via the internet in a secure, easy and useful way.

At Lyttelton Primary School, we use an online platform called Hero to share student progress and achievement, as well as communicate with parents.

Parents download the free Hero app to their phone’s home screen and keep an eye out for the notification icon meaning there is something to read which relates to their child.

Hero replaces the traditional written twice per year reporting format, as we see reporting not as an event, but as an ongoing dialogue between home and school.

We use Hero to send out all email communication to our parents and you can also access your current financial statement, give permission for trips and outings, sign up for sports teams, report absences and check the school calendar.

How to access HERO?

Hero can be accessed using a web browser, but we highly recommend downloading the Hero app to your mobile phone.

Your access is linked to the email address you have in your child’s record at the school (so if you change your email address, please let us know.)

Full instructions can be found here: https://hero.linc-ed.com/parents/

If you have any problems accessing Hero, please let us know by emailing office@lyttelton.school.nz. We can add multiple email addresses for each child and we encourage all caregivers to create log-ins.

Don’t forget that all school updates, trip permissions, school reports and sports notices come out via Hero.

All important communication comes out via Hero but we have other channels of communication:

  • To showcase our school to the wider community we also have this website and a public Facebook page.
