Principal's Message
Kia ora, e te whānau
We had an ideal day for the cross country on Monday with us all heading by bus to Ferrymead Park this year. Thank you for such a great turnout of parent support. We apologise that some of the races started slightly ahead of time and we will consider this in our review for next time. A large contingent of approximately 30 children are competing in the Zones Cross Country (on the same course!) next Tuesday. Good luck everyone. A special thank you to Eve for organising and coordinating the event and to Brett for a superb job setting out the course.
Edison robots have been a lot of fun this week as in the video above. What are they all about? Find out more here!
Thank you very much to Bridget O'Brien, Helen Shaw and Kirsty Brennan for sharing your expertise with children in Rakinui to help kick start our next inquiry into Wai / Water. The session certainly ignited some thinking and we are very fortunate to have parents who are water engineers and scientists in our community!
The school of young writers have been in again this week working with students from Raupo and Totara. Check out these must reads!
Great turnout for the Family Hub coffee meeting this morning. Our Family Hub make a tremendous contribution to the school and always welcome any new folk who would like to get involved.
Lyttelton has done very well again in the first stage of the Epro8 Challenge this year (engineering, problem solving and innovate). Like last year we have a team through to the semi finals where they get the chance to put their creativity, innovation, engineering skills and team work to the test against the best from other schools.
Next week sees our teachers involved in a five week review of student progress and achievement. We take a collaborative approach to the five week review to maximise opportunities for working together as a team to meet diverse learning needs.
Congratulations to the following winter sport players of the day;
- Aabha - Y5/6 Football for tremendous gutsy playing and determination on defence.
- Seren - Y5/6 Netball for grit and perseverance and for her first goal!
- Ferdi - Y7/8 Football for some classy play as a striker.
Have an enjoyable weekend everyone. Our PB4L focus for the next couple of weeks is GRIT!
Kia pai tō rā whakatā
(have a good weekend)
