Play Based Education

Francie Graham —

While playing, children work through conflicts with objects, other children, and adults. Play provides an outlet for curiosity, information about the physical world, a safe way to deal with anxiety and social relationships. In the long run, play serves children's inner needs, hopes, and aspirations. Magda Gerber

We are loving the creative things the Harakeke children get involved in during our Action Station time. They are learning Strategies to solve problems and are showing increasing abilities to work together. They are learning to be empathetic, to persevere with their creations, and to broaden their repertoire of social skills. We have been impressed with their focus, their imaginations, and their outcomes.
