Here’s how things work: We need to collect about 5,000 or more books donated from families, friends, businesses and the wider community. We are ready to receive these donations at school NOW.

We are asking for everyone to get out there and help get these donations in. If you can put up a poster or a social media post and encourage anyone you know to have a clean out and donate books to this great effort it would be appreciated.

Rita has a stack of our beautiful posters in all sizes avail at reception so please drop past over the next 2 weeks and pick one up. If you would like an electronic version for email or social media please let Rita know or email familyhub@lyttelton.school.nz. Maybe you can put up a poster at work and be the collection point or send a facebook post to friends or work colleagues? Maybe you know a cafe, shop or noticeboard that would be happy to put up a poster or have attack of flyers? What a great opportunity to have a clean out, feel good about reusing and recycling and rest assured that anything suitable for the school library will be weeded out during the sorting so put in all your great kids books too.  In the first 4 weeks of next term we will need a lot of help with the sorting and categorising of our books which are then boxed up for the Book Fair day. This is definitely a big job for a few people but is a fun and easy job for many. We will be organising some morning, afternoon and evening sorting sessions so please consider how you can help with this, dates to be advised.  We will also be looking for volunteers in term 4 to help with the book fair set up 3-5pm on Friday the 9th November and on the Book Fair day 9am-2pm Saturday 10th November.  

A final request for anyone who may have a mobile EFTpos machine they would consider lending for the book fair day. This would be a huge money saver for us and a really big help. Please email familyhub@lyttelton.schoo.nz or talk to Ruth or Rita if you think you may be able to help us here.
